Biography:
Richard Thomas has been the
Information Commissioner for the UK since
2nd December 2002. He is the
independent supervisory authority for the
Data Protection Act 1998, the Freedom of
Information Act 2000 and the Environmental
Regulations 2004, all of which are
fundamentally concerned with good
information handling. The Commissioner
is responsible for promoting good practice.
He has put openness for public bodies and
respect for personal information at the
heart of his vision for the organisation.

will discuss the practical implications of
the actions taken by the Information
Commissioner in various cases, by the FSA
against the Nationwide, and by the Article
29 Working Party and various national
regulators in the EU against SWIFT. He
will also review the recent flurry of
enforcement actions relating to the UK's
direct marketing regulations.
Biography:
Christopher Millard is a partner
in the Technology, Media &
Telecommunications Group at Linklaters. He
has 25 years experience in the technology
and communications law fields and has led
many multi-jurisdictional information
governance and data protection compliance
projects. As a Visiting Professorial
Fellow of Queen Mary, University of London,
he teaches on Masters of Law courses in IT
Law, Internet Law and Telecommunications
Law. He is the author of many articles
and book chapters on privacy, technology and
communications law.

Suzanne Rodway is the Group
Privacy Director within the Legal &
Compliance team at Barclays Bank. She
has responsibility for worldwide oversight
of the group's compliance with privacy, data
protection and freedom of information laws.
She trained with global law firm Linklaters,
where she qualified in the Technology, Media
& Telecommunications practice. She
later moved in-house within Linklaters to
advise the firm on its own privacy and
information risk management issues.
Suzanne is a Member of the Editorial Board

Biography:
Ashley Roughton was called to the
Bar in 1992 and has a large data protection
practice. He is a member of Hogarth
Chambers and was counsel in both Johnson and
Smith, and handles a great number of cases
for data controllers who have been asked to
provide information to the Information
Commissioner. His practice also
includes proceedings before the Information
Tribunal as well as in court. Ashley
is a Member of the Editorial Board of

Simon McDougall leads Deloitte's

coordinates Deloitte's EMEA work in this

implementations, and integrating information

Edna Kusitor advises on global

Her global remit includes countries as

large telecommunications provider.
